BIS Certification for Trichloroethylene IS 245

Trichloroethylene, Technical

The industrial use of trichloroethylene as a metal cleaning and degreasing solvent is vital in automotive, aerospace, pharmaceutical, and electronics industries. Its use must adhere to strict quality and safety standards due to the potential health and environmental risks it poses.

Trichloroethylene is a BIS-certified product in accordance with IS 245, which means the chemical meets Indian requirements for purity, composition, safety, and performance. BIS certification not only ensures regulatory compliance but also enhances product reliability, industrial acceptance, and market credibility across India.

Introduction to BIS License

The national standards authority of India is the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which issues BIS licenses and ISI Mark certification. A BIS license indicates that a product conforms to the applicable Indian Standard and meets the required safety, quality, and performance criteria.

In the case of trichloroethylene, which falls under IS 245, BIS certification ensures that the chemical meets the required purity standards, has controlled impurity levels, and is handled safely. Manufacturers holding a valid BIS license are permitted to use the ISI Mark, which significantly contributes to building product trust and acceptance in the Indian market.

Why do products need an ISI Certification?

Here are the key reasons mentioned why do products need ISI Certification as follows:

  1. Safety Assurance :  Provides the controlled composition and minimization of harmful impurities to minimize health and environmental hazards.
  2. Quality Compliance : Ensures compliance to purity, distillation range and chemical properties.
  3. Within Regulatory Requirement :  The compliance of IS 245 is mandatory in the legal manufacture and sale in India.
  4. Market Credibility :  Gathers confidence among the industrial users, suppliers and the regulatory bodies.
  5. Business Growth : Allows one to take part in government tender and big industrial supply deals.

Key specifications of IS 245?

The specifications of Trichloroethylene in the IS 245 are:

  • Requirements on chemical composition and purity.
  • Acidity, moisture, and non-volatile residue limitation.
  • Distillation properties and boiling point.
  • Interior and outside specifications.
  • Investigative techniques and laboratory processing.

BIS Certification for IS 245 guarantees that Trichloroethylene is produced, tested and checked according to the requirements of this standard. Those products which satisfy all the requirements can carry the ISI Mark which is a sign of quality, safety and compliance.
