1. Application & Documentation: The applicant must submit the prescribed application form along with required documents and applicable fees. The fee structure depends on the commodity and includes grading and processing charges.

2. Infrastructure Verification: The applicant must have proper processing facilities and access to an approved AGMARK laboratory or an in-house laboratory. DMI authorities inspect the facilities before issuing the Certificate of Authorization. The verification process generally takes 30–40 days.

3. Product Testing: Raw materials and final products are tested by an authorized chemist before packaging to ensure compliance with AGMARK standards.

4. Licence Grant & Inspection: After approval, the AGMARK licence is granted. DMI field officers conduct regular inspections by comparing samples at the packer’s premises with products available in the market to ensure ongoing compliance.
