BIS Quality Control Amendment Order for Vinyl Chloride Monomer

The Government of India has issued an amendment to the Quality Control Order for Vinyl Chloride Monomer under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.

As per this updated Order, all goods or articles of Vinyl Chloride Monomer must follow the requirements of Indian Standard IS 17442:2020.
From the date of implementation, every product covered under this category must:

• Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license, as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
• Be produced and supplied only by BIS-licensed manufacturers

Products manufactured solely for export are exempt from this requirement, provided they meet the specifications demanded by foreign buyers.

BIS has been officially appointed as the certifying and enforcing authority for this Order.

IMPORTANT NOTES

• Any individual, company, or entity failing to comply with this Order will face penalties under the BIS Act, 2016.
• Any future amendments or revisions made by BIS to IS 17442:2020 will automatically apply from the date they are published.
