Dear Viewer, Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing License holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Steel and Steel Products (Specification for Uncoated Stress Relieved Strand for Pre-stressed Concrete – Specification) (Quality Control) Order, 2024.

The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the powers granted by Sections 16, 17, and sub-section (3) of Section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016) . This order supersedes the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020 and takes effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, with the exception of matters already in progress before the supersession.

The order covers Uncoated Stress Relieved Strand for Pre-stressed Concrete – Specification, which must comply with Indian Standard IS 6006:2014. All products falling under this specification are required to display the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) and be manufactured under a valid BIS license, in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Each product must also be accompanied by a Test Certificate issued by a BIS-certified manufacturer.

Products manufactured in India to meet alternative specifications for export, as required by foreign buyers, are exempt from the provisions of this order. The Bureau of Indian Standards is the designated authority for certification and enforcement, and non-compliance will invite penalties as per Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any amendments or revisions made by BIS to the specified Indian Standard will automatically apply to this order from the date of their publication.
