BIS QCO for the Steel and Steel Products (Magnetic materials – Fe based amorphous strip delivered in the semiprocessed state)

The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.
This new Order replaces the earlier 2020 QCO and became effective from 5th February 2024, the date it was published in the Official Gazette. Any work already started under the earlier Order will remain valid.

This notification applies to Magnetic materials – Fe based amorphous strip delivered in the semiprocessed state, which must now follow the Indian Standard IS 16585:2016. From the date of implementation, every product under this category must:

• Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018

• Be supplied with a Test Certificate issued by a BIS-certified manufacturer

Products made only for export purposes are exempted from this requirement, as long as they meet the foreign buyer’s specifications.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been appointed as the certifying and enforcing authority for this Order.
Non-compliance with this Order will attract penalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any future revision or amendment made by BIS to this Indian Standard will automatically apply to this Order from the date of publication.
