BIS QCO for the Steel and Steel Products (Cold–rolled Steel Strips for Springs)

The Ministry of Steel has issued this new Quality Control Order under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.

• This Orderreplaces the earlier 2020 QCOand is effective from 29th August 2024 (date of publication in the Official Gazette).

• Any work already started under the old Order will remain valid.

This notification applies toCold–rolled Steel Strips for Springs, which must now comply withIndian Standard IS 2507:1975. From the implementation date, every product under this category must:

• Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark)under a valid BIS license as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

• Be supplied with a Test Certificateissued by a BIS-certified manufacturer.

Products made only for export are exempted, provided they meet the specifications required by foreign buyers.

TheBureau of Indian Standards (BIS)has been appointed as the certifying and enforcing authority for this Order.

Non-compliancewith this Order will invite penalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any futurerevisions or amendmentsmade by BIS to this Indian Standard will automatically apply to this Order from the date of publication.
