BIS QCO for Steel and Steel Products (Mild Steel Wire, Cold Heading Quality)

TheMinistry of Steelhas issued theSteel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.

This new Order replaces the earlier2020 QCOand became effective from 29th August 2024, the date it was published in the Official Gazette. Work already carried out under the 2020 Order will remain valid.

This notification applies toMild Steel Wire, Cold Heading Quality, which must now follow theIndian Standard IS 1673:1984. From the date of implementation, every product under this category must:

• Carry theStandard Mark (ISI Mark)under a valid BIS license, as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

• Be supplied with aTest Certificateissued by a BIS-certified manufacturer.

Products manufactured only forexport purposesare exempted, as long as they meet the specifications required by foreign buyers.

TheBureau of Indian Standards (BIS)has been appointed as thecertifying and enforcing authorityfor this Order.

Non-compliance with this Order will attractpenalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any futurerevisions or amendmentsmade by BIS to this Indian Standard will automatically apply to this Order from the date of publication.
