This new regulation is designed to enhance the standards forSteel Wire Ropes - Fibre Main Cores, making it mandatory for manufacturers to comply with specific quality benchmarks set by theBureau of Indian Standards (BIS). - ForSmall and Micro Enterprises(manufacturing for domestic markets), the order will take effect a bit later, from1st July 2025.
Scope of Application
This order applies toSteel Wire Ropes - Fibre Main Coresand ensures that all such products meet strict quality and safety standards. However, it is important to note that this ruledoes not applyto Steel Wire Ropes - Fibre Main Cores that are produced solely forexport purposes. Products made for international markets are exempt from the order.
Mandatory BIS Certification and ISI Mark
The most important part of this order is the requirement forBIS certification. AllSteel Wire Ropes - Fibre Main Coresproduced or sold in India must:
- Comply with theIndian Standard IS 1804:2004, which defines the safety, quality, and performance requirements for Steel Wire Ropes - Fibre Main Cores.
- Carry theISI mark, a quality certification mark granted by BIS.
