BIS Quality Control Order for Steel Wire Ring Net Panels

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade), under the powers granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, has issued a draft Quality Control Order (QCO) titled:

Steel Wire Ropes, Strands, Ring Net Panels, Rope Net Panels and Rolls (Quality Control) Order, 2025

1. Title and Commencement

● This order will be called the Steel Wire Ropes, Strands, Ring Net Panels, Rope Net Panels and Rolls (Quality Control) Order, 2025.

● It will come into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Mandatory Certification

● Products such as Steel Wire Ring Net Panels for General Structural Applications, including Cable-Supported Bridges, must comply with Indian Standard IS/ISO 17745: 2016.

● These products must bear the BIS Standard Mark under a valid license issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations, 2018.

Implementation Timeline:

● General manufacturers: Within 6 months from the date of notification in the Gazette.

● Micro Enterprises: Within 9 months from the date of notification.

● Small Enterprises: Within 12 months from the date of notification.

Note: This order does not apply to products made exclusively for export.

3. Certification & Enforcement Authority: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will be the certification and enforcement authority for the products covered under this order.

4. Penalty for Violation: Anyone found violating this order will be subject to penalties as per the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.
