BIS Amendment Order for Polypropylene (PP) Materials for Moulding and Extrusion

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals) has issued the Polypropylene (PP) Materials for Moulding and Extrusion (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025, officially extending the implementation date of the original QCO.

New Date of Implementation:

The Quality Control Order will now come into effect from 24th October 2025.

Key Highlights:

Product Covered: Polypropylene (PP) materials used for moulding and extrusion.

Mandatory BIS Certification: Products must comply with Indian Standard IS 10951:2020 and bear the Standard Mark under a valid BIS licence (Scheme-I, Schedule-II of the BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations, 2018).

Applicability: Applies to domestically sold PP materials; excludes exports.

Enforcement Authority: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will serve as the certifying and enforcing body.

Penalty for Non-Compliance: Any violations will be penalized as per the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.

This amendment offers manufacturers additional preparation time for compliance, while maintaining the government's focus on ensuring product quality and safety in the plastics sector.
