BIS QCO for Plain Hard-drawn Steel Wire for Pre-stressed Concrete IS 1785 Part 2:1983

The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024, under the powers granted by Sections 16, 17, and sub-section (3) of Section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016).

This order supersedes the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020. Comes into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, except for matters concluded before the supersession.

Key Provisions :

• Scope : Applicable to Plain Hard-drawn Steel Wire for Pre-stressed Concrete; Part 2 – As Drawn Wire as per IS 1785 (Part 2): 1983.
• Export Exemption : Domestically manufactured products meeting foreign buyer specifications for export are exempt.
• Mandatory Compliance :
  • Products must conform to IS 1785 (Part 2): 1983 (including future amendments by BIS).
  • Products must bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS licence, issued as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
  • A Test Certificate from a BIS-certified manufacturer must accompany the product.
• Implementation Authority : Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) – Government of India.
• Penalties : Non-compliance will attract penalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any future amendments or revisions to the Indian Standard by BIS will automatically apply to this Order from the date of their publication.
