The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued the Centrifugally Cast (Spun) Iron Pipes (Quality Control) Order, 2021, mandating that Hubless centrifugally cast (Spun) iron pipes, fittings and accessories – Spigot series applications IS 15905: 2011.

This order mandates that Hubless centrifugally cast (Spun) iron pipes, fittings and accessories – Spigot series must comply with Indian Standard IS 15905: 2011 and bear the ISI Mark, ensuring product consistency, reliability, and public safety.

Key Highlights of the Order

Products Covered: Hubless centrifugally cast (Spun) iron pipes, fittings and accessories – Spigot series used for:

● Water distribution

● Gas pipelines

     ● Sewage systems

Applicable Standard:

     ● Must conform to IS 15905: 2011

    ● Must bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018

Effective Date: The Order came into effect on 1st August 2021

Exemptions: Products manufactured exclusively for export are exempt from the scope of this Quality Control Order.

Certification & Enforcement Authority:

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for these products. Manufacturers must obtain BIS certification before marketing or selling their products in the Indian market.
