BIS QCO for Hot Rolled Steel Plate (up to 6 mm) Sheet and Strip for Low-Pressure Liquefiable Gas Cylinders

The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the powers of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (Sections 16, 17, and 25(3)). This new Order replaces the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020 and has come into effect from 5th February 2024, the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

This notification is specifically applicable to Hot Rolled Steel Plate (up to 6 mm), Sheet and Strip for the Manufacture of Low-Pressure Liquefiable Gas Cylinders, which must conform to Indian Standard IS 6240:2008 from the date of implementation.

All products in this category must:

• Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license, issued as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
  
• Be accompanied by a Test Certificate from a BIS-certified manufacturer.

Products manufactured only for export purposes are exempt, provided they follow the buyer’s required specifications.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the designated certifying and enforcement authority. Non-compliance with this Order will attract penalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any amendments or updates made by BIS to the specified Indian Standard will automatically apply to this Order from the date of their publication.
