This is an important update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to all existing license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers for Steel and Steel Products (Hot Rolled Steel Narrow Width Strip for Welded Tubes and Pipes) under the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024.
BIS QCO for Hot Rolled Steel Narrow Width Strip for Welded Tubes and Pipes – IS 15647:2006
The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the powers given by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.
This new Order replaces the 2020 Quality Control Order and has been effective since 5th February 2024, the date it was published in the Official Gazette. However, any work already done under the old order will still be valid.
Key Requirements
This order applies to Hot Rolled Steel Narrow Width Strip for Welded Tubes and Pipes. From the date of implementation:
- Products under this category must conform to Indian Standard IS 15647:2006.
- They must bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
- They must be supplied with a Test Certificate issued by a BIS-certified manufacturer.
- Products manufactured only for export are exempted, provided they meet the foreign buyer’s specifications.
Enforcement
- The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the certifying and enforcing authority for this Order.
- Non-compliance with any part of this Order will lead to penalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.
Any revision or amendment made to this Indian Standard by BIS will automatically apply to this Order from the date BIS publishes it.
