This is an important update regarding the Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers of High purity primary aluminum ingot for remelting for special applications.
On August 31, 2023, theMinistry of Minesissued theAluminium and Aluminium Alloys (Quality Control) Order, 2023. Initially, the implementation date was set for three months from the date of its publication. However, the ministry issued an amendment on May 3, 2024, titled theAluminium and Aluminium Alloys (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024, which extended the implementation date toDecember 1, 2024.

- This requirement doesnot apply to goods manufactured solely for export purposes.

TheBureau of Indian Standards (BIS)is designated as the certifying and enforcement authority for this regulation. BIS will ensure that only products meeting the prescribed standards are manufactured, imported, or sold domestically.
- Scope of Application
This order applies exclusively toHigh purity primary aluminum ingot for remelting for special applications used within India. Products manufactured for export are explicitly excluded from this mandate.
