BIS QCO for Hard-Drawn Steel Wire for Concrete Reinforcement IS 432 (Part 2): 1982

The Ministry of Steel has notified the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the provisions of Sections 16, 17, and sub-section (3) of Section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). This Order replaces the earlier Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020 and comes into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, while all actions undertaken under the superseded Order will remain valid.

This notification specifically covers the Specification for Mild Steel and Medium Tensile Steel Bars and Hard-Drawn Steel Wire for Concrete Reinforcement: Part 2 – Hard-Drawn Steel Wire. Products falling under this category are required to conform to Indian Standard IS 432 (Part 2): 1982. Only those goods bearing the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) issued under a valid BIS license in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018 will be permitted for sale in the Indian market. Each consignment must also be accompanied by a Test Certificate issued by a BIS-certified manufacturer.

The Order provides exemption for products manufactured in India exclusively for export, where compliance with alternative specifications is necessary to meet foreign buyer requirements. The Bureau of Indian Standards has been designated as the authority responsible for certification and enforcement of this Order. Any violation of its provisions will attract penalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.

Additionally, any amendment or revision to the relevant Indian Standard by the Bureau of Indian Standards will automatically apply to this Quality Control Order from the date of such publication.
