BIS QCO for Galvanized Steel Sheets (Plain and Corrugated) IS 277: 2018

The Ministry of Steel has issued the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the powers granted by Sections 16, 17, and sub-section (3) of Section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). This notification supersedes the earlier Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020 and becomes effective from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, except for matters that were already concluded prior to this supersession.

This order covers Galvanized Steel Sheets (Plain and Corrugated) – Specification, which must conform to Indian Standard IS 277:2018. All such products are required to carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) and be manufactured under a valid BIS license issued in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. Each consignment must also be accompanied by a Test Certificate from a BIS-certified manufacturer.

Products manufactured in India that are intended solely for export and conform to alternative specifications demanded by foreign buyers are exempt from the provisions of this order. The Bureau of Indian Standards has been designated as the certifying and enforcing authority, and any non-compliance will invite penalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any future amendments or revisions made by BIS to the referenced Indian Standard will automatically apply to this order from the date of their publication.
