BIS QCO for Fusion Bonded Epoxy Coated Reinforcing Bars IS 13620:1993

The Ministry of Steel has notified the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the powers vested in Sections 16, 17, and sub-section (3) of Section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). This order replaces the earlier Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020 and comes into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, except for matters already concluded prior to the supersession.

The order covers Fusion Bonded Epoxy Coated Reinforcing Bars – Specification, which must comply with Indian Standard IS 13620:1993. All such products are required to bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) and be manufactured under a valid BIS license issued in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018 . Each consignment must also be accompanied by a Test Certificate from a BIS-certified manufacturer.

Products manufactured in India that meet alternative specifications for export, as per the requirements of foreign buyers, are exempt from these provisions. The Bureau of Indian Standards has been designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for this order, and violations will attract penalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any amendments or revisions to the specified Indian Standard by BIS will automatically apply from the date of their publication.
