IS 18471 (Part 3):2023/ISO 15483:1999
Important update for all existing license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers regarding the Cross Recessed Screws (Fasteners – Cross Recessed Drilling Screws with Tapping Screw Thread Part 3 Raised Countersunk Head) (Quality Control) Order, 2024. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued the Cross Recessed Screws (Quality Control) Extension Order, 2025, which will come into effect on 1st November 2025.
All Cross Recessed Screws must comply with Indian Standard IS 18471 (Part 3):2025 / ISO 15483:1999.
Every product must carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license according to Scheme-I of Schedule-II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Note for Small and Micro Enterprises:
Micro and small enterprises registered on the Udyam portal with plant & machinery investment ≤ ₹25 lakh and turnover ≤ ₹2 crore (CA certified) may be exempt from immediate compliance.
Manufacturers (OEMs) can import up to 200 kg annually of these screws for R&D purposes.
These items cannot be sold and must be disposed of as scrap.
OEMs must maintain records annually and provide them to authorities when requested, on official letterhead with an authorized signature.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the certifying and enforcing authority.
Non-compliance with this order may lead to penalties under the BIS Act, 2016.
