Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for Cranked - Link drag chains of welded constructio n attachments and sprockets.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 16, read with section 17 and sub-section (3) of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), and after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards, the Central Government, being of the opinion that it is necessary and expedient in the public interest, hereby makes the following Order:
1. Short Title and Commencement
- This Order may be called the Chains and Sprockets (Quality Control) Order, 2025.
- It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Compulsory Use of Standard Mark
- The following goods or articles shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard and shall bear the Standard Mark under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018:
- Cranked - Link drag chains of welded construction attachments and sprockets IS 13926:2005/ISO 6971: 2002
- The requirement to use the Standard Mark shall be applicable from the date specified in column (5) of the Table to this Order.
- Special Provision for MSMEs: Micro and small enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), shall be required to conform to the above Indian Standard from the dates specified in columns (6) and (7) of the Table, respectively.
- Exemption: This Order shall not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export.
3. Certification and Enforcement Authority
The Bureau of Indian Standards shall act as the certifying and enforcing authority for the above goods or articles.
4. Penalty for Contravention
Any person who contravenes the provisions of this Order shall be punishable in accordance with the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
