BIS QCO for Cold Reduced Low Carbon Steel Sheets and Strip IS 513 (Part 2): 2016
The Ministry of Steel has notified the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the powers granted by Sections 16, 17, and sub-section (3) of Section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016). This Order supersedes the earlier Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2020 and takes effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, while matters already initiated under the previous Order will continue to remain valid.
This notification applies to Cold Reduced Low Carbon Steel Sheets and Strip: Part 2 – High Tensile and Multiphase Steel, which must conform to Indian Standard IS 513 (Part 2): 2016 from the date of implementation. All products falling under this category are required to bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license, granted in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. In addition, each consignment must be supported by a Test Certificate issued by a BIS-certified manufacturer.
Products manufactured exclusively for export are exempted from the provisions of this Order, provided they comply with the specifications required by foreign buyers. The Bureau of Indian Standards has been designated as the certifying and enforcing authority, and non-compliance with its provisions is liable to penalties under Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.
Any revision or amendment to the specified Indian Standard by BIS will automatically apply to this Order from the date of its publication.
