The Government of India issues this Quality Control Order to ensure safety, reliability, and standardization of Centrifugally cast (Spun) iron spigot and socket soil, waste, ventilating and rainwater pipes, fittings and accessories across the country.

In a significant move to uphold quality and safety standards in infrastructure and utility services, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) issued the Centrifugally Cast (Spun) Iron Pipes (Quality Control) Order, 2021 on 12th January 2021.

Overview
This order mandates that Centrifugally cast (Spun) iron spigot and socket soil, waste, ventilating and rainwater pipes, fittings and accessories must comply with Indian Standard IS 3989:2009 and bear the ISI Mark, ensuring product consistency, reliability, and public safety.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for these products. Manufacturers must obtain BIS certification before marketing or selling their products in the Indian market.
