An important update for all existing licence holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers regarding the Acrylonitrile (Quality Control) Second Amendment Order, 2024.
BIS QCO for Acrylonitrile (IS 12540:1988)
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Acrylonitrile (Quality Control) Second Amendment Order, 2024 under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.
This order will come into effect on 24th October 2025 and applies to all Acrylonitrile products, except those made exclusively for export.
From the implementation date, every Acrylonitrile product must:
Comply with Indian Standard IS 12540:1988
Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS licence as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will act as the certifying and enforcing authority for this order.
Non-compliance with this order will result in penalties under the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.
