BIS QCO Update: Palm Fatty Acids

CONCERN MINISTRY: Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers

Dear Viewer,
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Palm Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025 under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016. This BIS QCO will come into effect from 24th October 2025 and applies to all Palm Fatty Acids products sold in India, except those manufactured exclusively for export.

Key Requirements Under the BIS QCO for Palm Fatty Acids
From the implementation date, all Palm Fatty Acids products must:
Conform to the Indian Standard IS 12067:1987
Carry the ISI Standard Mark under a valid BIS license as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
Be supplied with a Test Certificate issued by a BIS-certified manufacturer
Note: Products made solely for export are exempt from this order, provided they meet the specifications required by the foreign buyer.
Authority and Compliance
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the official certifying and enforcement authority for this order.
Non-compliance with the Palm Fatty Acids QCO will attract penalties as per the BIS Act, 2016.
Any future revision or amendment of IS 12067:1987 by BIS will automatically be applicable to this order from the date of publication.
