BIS QCO for Maleic Anhydride

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Maleic Anhydride (Quality Control) Second Amendment Order, 2024 under the BIS Act, 2016. This Order updates the earlier 2020 QCO and will come into effect from 24th October 2025. Any work already started under the earlier Order will remain valid.

This notification applies to Maleic Anhydride products, except those meant for export. From the date of implementation, every product must:

• Comply with the Indian Standard IS 5149:2020

• Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018

• Be produced or supplied under BIS-certified quality control

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been appointed as the certifying and enforcing authority for this Order. Non-compliance with this Order will attract penalties under the relevant provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any future revision or amendment made by BIS to this Indian Standard will automatically apply to this Order from the date of publication.
