Here’s an important update for all existing license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers regarding Polypropylene (PP) Materials for Moulding and Extrusion (Quality Control) Order, 2024.
BIS QCO for Polypropylene (PP) Materials for Moulding and Extrusion
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Polypropylene (PP) Materials for Moulding and Extrusion (Quality Control) Order Amendment, 2025. This Order will come into effect on 24th October, 2025. It replaces any earlier orders and applies to all goods or articles made from Polypropylene (PP) for moulding and extrusion, except those made solely for export.
Under this Order, all PP products must:
- Comply with Indian Standard IS 10951:2020
- Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under Scheme–I, Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
- Be supplied with a Test Certificate issued by a BIS-licensed manufacturer
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the certifying and enforcing authority for this QCO. Non-compliance may lead to penalties under the relevant provisions of the BIS Act.
Any updates or amendments made by BIS to IS 10951:2020 will automatically apply to this Order from the date of publication.
