BIS QCO for Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025 under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016.

This new amendment replaces previous orders and will come into effect on 24th October 2025. Any work already started under earlier orders will continue to remain valid.

This Order applies to all Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids, except products intended solely for export.

From the date of implementation, every product under this category must:

• Comply with Indian Standard IS 12361:1988

• Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018

• Be supplied with a Test Certificate issued by a BIS-certified manufacturer

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been appointed as the certifying and enforcing authority for this Order.

Non-compliance with this Order will attract penalties under the relevant provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.

Any future revisions or amendments made by BIS to IS 12361:1988 will automatically apply to this Order from the date of publication.
