Important update for all existing license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers regarding the Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025.
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2025, under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Act, 2016. This order replaces the earlier 2024 amendment and will be effective from 24th October 2025.
This order applies to all goods containing Coconut Fatty Acids, except those meant exclusively for export. From the date of implementation, every product under this category must:
Follow the Indian Standard IS 12069:1987
Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS license as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
Be accompanied by a Test Certificate issued by a BIS-certified manufacturer
Exemption: Products made exclusively for export are not required to carry the ISI Mark but must meet the specifications requested by foreign buyers.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been appointed as the certifying and enforcing authority for this Order. Any violation of this order may attract penalties under the relevant sections of the BIS Act.
Future Amendments:
Any future revisions or amendments issued by BIS to IS 12069:1987 will automatically apply to this Order from the date of publication.
