IS 16112:2013
This is to inform all existing BIS licence holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers about an important regulatory update — the Quality Control Amendment Order, 2024 for Beta Picoline, which amends the original Beta Picoline (Quality Control) Order, 2020.
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, has issued this amendment to ensure that all goods or articles of Beta Picoline strictly adhere to the Indian Standard IS 16112:2013.
All such products must bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS licence, granted in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
This move aims to strengthen product quality, enhance consumer safety, and promote compliance across the chemical industry before Beta Picoline products are made available in the Indian market.
The provisions of this order do not apply to goods or articles of Beta Picoline that are manufactured exclusively for export, as long as they meet the specifications required by the respective foreign buyer.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will act as the certifying and enforcing authority for all goods and articles covered under this order.
Any person or entity that fails to comply with the provisions of this Order will be subject to penalties as prescribed under the BIS Act, 2016, including possible legal and financial actions.
