Dear Reader, The Government of India has issued an important amendment under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 — the Beta Picoline (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024. This update is applicable to all existing BIS licence holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers dealing with Beta Picoline.

Overview of the Order
This Quality Control Order mandates that all goods or articles of Beta Picoline must strictly conform to the Indian Standard IS 16112:2013.
Every product covered under this order must bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark), granted under a valid BIS licence in accordance with Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
It is important to note that the provisions of this order do not apply to goods or articles intended exclusively for export, provided they meet the specifications required by the foreign purchaser.
Implementation & Enforcement
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for ensuring compliance with this order.
Any manufacturer, importer, or seller found in violation of this Quality Control Order will face penalties under the BIS Act, 2016.
